My elementary school, the
Josiah Quincy, is located a few streets away from my home along the city's
borders for Boston's Chinatown. Consisting of two Cantonese bilingual classes
and four regular classes per grade (kindergarten through fifth), approximately
50% of the student body are Asian. As well as being a student, I also attended
the after school/summer program Red Oak, that was also primarily Asian.
Living less than five minutes walking from my mostly Asian elementary school
"in" Chinatown, there was no doubt in my mind that I lived in the part of
the city known as Chinatown. |
