Chinese Youth Initiative The Chinese Youth Initiative is an internship available to high school students around Boston. It's purpose is to educate young teens about issues concerning their race, community, and society. I was an intern here in the summer of 2000. It was the best experience I had. I learned about discrimination, hate crimes, and projects to help the Chinatown Community. This internship increased my outlook on Chinatown. It is held in the heart of Chinatown - on Harrison Avenue. |

Projects I was involved with a development project at CYI. My partner and I toured through Chinatown and took pictures of recent development concerning Chinatown's community. These projects broadened my outlook on the Chinatown community.

The Chinatown Banquet Through this internship, I became more involved in the Chinatown community. The Mapping Project, which shows our personal views on Chinatown, gave me a greater understanding of the geographical location of places in Chinatown. Through the usage of media and web design, I became more aware about issues concerning the Chinese community. |
